Amy Calderwood, 6th grade, Karena Wold, 5th grade and Alyssa Cadiz, 7th grade, display their trophies for placing third, second and first in the district spelling bee. Alyssa won the spelling bee by correctly spelling mathematics.

Edna writes: "The Beaumont City Council voted 4-1 Tuesday to approve a loan agreement for an indoor shooting range in Beaumont. Police Chief Frank Coe said the indoor shooting range would be housed in an industrial building on the south side of Fourth Street."

The Beaumont Adult School offers workshops and classes for parents and students through The Parent Academy. From 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 14, a science camp will be presented featuring ideas about eating healthy and free samples of healthy snacks. It will be held at Beaumont Adult School.

My friend told me about this - "BEAUMONT - KFDM News has learned that in light of the shooting of Deputy Fred Ashworth and recent cases in which gunmen fired shots at Beaumont officers, the Beaumont Police Chief is making it a requirement for the men and women on the force to wear protective vests."

Grace told me about this and I found this story about it at WWW.RECORDGAZETTE.NET on Thursday.
"Beaumont High School girls wrestling team brought home a third place trophy after competing in the Lancaster Eagle Open Dec. 21, led by first place winners Ashley Munos (98 pounds) and Malina Nelson (112 pounds). Breana Rodriguez (108 pounds) placed second in her division."
