Amy Calderwood, 6th grade, Karena Wold, 5th grade and Alyssa Cadiz, 7th grade, display their trophies for placing third, second and first in the district spelling bee. Alyssa won the spelling bee by correctly spelling mathematics.

Edna writes: "The Beaumont City Council voted 4-1 Tuesday to approve a loan agreement for an indoor shooting range in Beaumont. Police Chief Frank Coe said the indoor shooting range would be housed in an industrial building on the south side of Fourth Street."
