Romania have lost three players since announcing their squad for their Group D opener against Albania, who have found a place for out-of-contract captain Ervin Skela.

Romania defeated Spain (world runner-up) on Monday, score 11-10, in its second Group A game at the European Water Polo Championship in Zagreb, Croatia. It was a resounding success against one of the strongest teams in the world. Romania defeat Turkey in its first group game, score 12-6.
